New bus character

I have been taking a different bus route and bus into town from work, drops me off at my second stop so less walking in this cold weather. This means a whole new cast of bus characters to get to know and write about, found one almost immediately.
I got on the bus and noticed a guy held up a copy of the local newspaper to the driver instead of a bus pass. The previous day I thought I saw him holding a library card and showing it to the driver.
Apparently all his regular drivers are used to this and he never shows his actual bus pass. He always uses some other card he has on him, something different each day. If he has no card then he has used a fishing magazine, a dandelion and a leaf.
Not sure how this started, but everyone gets a kick out of it.

Oh I miss the days when I used to commute like you in buses and commuter trains. It is refreshing, really, to observe different folks in a typical work day.
Now, due to the nature of my new profession, I had to drive. Tsk tsk.

in my part of the world, we do not have public transportation - therefore - this cracks me up. I can’t imagine taking a bus everywhere I go.
The SLUT, South Lake Union Streetcar they just built starts today so I have even more options to observe.
I have ridden public transport in the UK, USA & France, so I am used to it now. I think I would feel lon ely if Id rove to work.

They renamed it and officially don’t use that anymore, a couple of guys are making a killing with “I rode the SLUT” tee-shirts.

Maybe just eccentric, I know like my company his supplies bus passes, but unlike my company they have to pay something towards the pass.
This way, he doesn’t even need a bus pass, the drivers are so used to seeing everything but a real bus pass. He can get away with not paying anything towards a bus pass.
