BBC News Friday: WWII bag returned to family of soldier
A cool story from the BBC news site, a tourist guide in Egypt found an old WWII satchel, he traveled to England after finding the family of the soldier who owned the bag. He returned the bag to the family and it contained some personal letters and effects.
I like cool stories like this with long forgotten items finding their way back to their owners. Great for the guide to go to those lengths to return the bag also.

No don’t take me!
Filed Under observations, on the street | 8 Comments
I am walking through a strip mall parking lot to get to my bus stop, I always take care doing this as people tend to whiz through to get to the other side. Getting run over by one truck is enough for me for one lifetime.
As I walk I am aware of a truck coming close, I flit between two cars to avoid him but the headlights are still close. I speed up and dart again but he is still with me, dang, I’m going to get abducted and ransomed off here!
I stop and I hear the driver saying something, I only catch “Airport.”
“Long runway with planes landing and taking off,” I respond.
At least he smiles, then asks again for directions to the airport as he has a flight he is running late for.
As someone who walks and takes public transport everywhere I hate giving directions to motorists. I usually send them the wrong way up one way streets or forget I am used to taking short cuts where vehicles cannot go. But I think I directed him okay.
He asked me if there was cheap parking at the airport, I almost laughed at that!
Bwhahahahaha cheap parking.

Open Letter: to ear guy on bus

Open Letter: To the ear guy on the bus sitting in front of me.
Dude, you had two of your fingers jammed into your ear hole picking at something. For several minutes you were probing trying to dislodge something or other jammed in your ear, if after that time nothing was coming out I guess whatever it was is staying!
Gross and best left for when you get home where your family can shine a light in your lug’ole and help remove whatever was causing your discomfort.

In your face

Three of us guys are sitting in the break room, our manager and supervisor, both, women come in and sit down with us. Our manager looks at us and comments on how all three guys have scruffy faces and obviously don’t like to shave everyday.
We all agree and say we shave once every other day or only two or three times a week.
“Plus chicks like stubble don’t they?”
Without thinking our supervisor says, “Depends where you are sticking your face.”
She and our manager cracked up laughing like the rest of us and then they both started turning very beet red. We tried to get our supervisor to elaborate on what she meant, but she wouldn’t.
For the rest of the day we only had to look at the both of them to get their faces crimson.

We’re back
Filed Under love, wife | 3 Comments
Well we made it back after our wedding anniversary getaway, we decided to stay down town rather than go out of State. We spent three days in a hotel down town, we had a great time relaxing and playing the tourist in our own town.
We saw movies, Jumper (great movie) and Rambo (intense, not the best Rambo film), we checked out the remodeled Seattle Art Museum and we went to a musical, we saw Mame. We enjoyed the musical and decided to get season tickets for the next season of shows.
It was really good for us to get time away from work and family issues, we certainly are getting to try out all the down town hotels and restaurants.
It is good to back though in our own space.

Valentine’s Day - love story - our story

Our love story - the short version time compressed.
It won’t last!
A few years ago I had numerous pen pals all over the UK and the world, then I got a computer and first signed up with Compuserve then AOL. I then discovered online pals and liked the instant responses, no waiting around for snail mail.
One of my online friends was a girl here in Seattle, one day I got up the courage to actually call her on the phone. She wasn’t in but her neighbor was there baby sitting, we talked for a short while. After that initial call we then started sending each other email, talking online, phoning and sending snail mail letters. This went on for over two years, we spent a fortune in phone bills, wore out several keyboards and cut a swathe through a forest of trees with all the letters and cards we sent.
One day I decided to propose marriage and to my surprise Carolyn said yes!
We made arrangements and Carolyn flew to England on the 13th of February, we got married on the 17th of the same month and spent ten wonderful days together. Then we parted with the intention of Carolyn eventually moving to the UK. But after again spending a ton of money on phone bills and considering that Carolyn had kids and grand kids, I upped and moved to the States.
I met the family and slowly had the kids loving me and the grand kids adoring me. We proved the naysayers wrong, and are happily married. I feel blessed to have a beautiful loving wife, some great (most of the time) kids and a gaggle (eight with number nine on the way) of grand kids. We are very much in love and some people still think we are in the honeymoon stage.
So to my loving wife Carolyn, I love you my darling you are my world and you mean everything to me, I have never regretted being your husband, thank you for being mine, I love you with all my heart.
Several people said it wouldn’t last and to those people I say;
Sunday is our tenth wedding anniversary.
