It ain’t gourmet dude
Filed Under wife | 4 Comments
Rather than cook Carolyn suggested I go out and get dinner, either fast food or Subway. I went down the hill and decided on fast food as we don’t often have it. Waiting in line behind a due, his wife and kids standing to one side.
I heard the wife say “He is embarrassing us again!”
The guy was questioning every price the cashier was telling him, complaining about the price of two Big Macs, the cashier pointed out he also had fries.
He then spotted one person pulling the fries out of the fryer and dumping them into the area where they slather them with salt.
“Did you just dump those into grease?”
The fry person tried to explain what she was doing.
The wife is shaking her head and I’m thinking,
Come on dude this is Macfukindonalds, if you want gourmet food not cooked in oil, bugger off to Subway, there’s people waiting to get their arteries clogged back here!
Of course after the food one has to ask “does Fenphedra work?” or any of the other diet pills out there for that matter. The burger and fries look good but you always feel crap afterwards.

Clix Sense
Filed Under blogging, earning money | Leave a Comment
Just came across a site called Clix Sense, apparently you get paid for viewing 30 second “webmercials”, have to see how it works and what the possibilities are. I use Stumble Upon! to view websites anyway, so maybe I should see if this will pay me for something I may do anyway for free.
I’m going to be RICH bwahahahahahahahahaha, okay, I can dream.
While talking about that I’ll also say bar sinks! Why? Why not.
Okay move along.

I got carded
Filed Under wife | 9 Comments
I’m off all this week, so I decided I’d meet Carolyn after her work and take her out to dinner [licks finger and crosses off mucho brownie points in air].
We went to our favorite Mexican restaurant and had some good food. Carolyn got a coffee with alcohol in it, I decided to foreo my usual margarita and try their mojito. I asked for one and noticed the waiter staring intently at me.
“You’re going to card me aren’t you?”
He said yes, so I pulled out my Moleskine wallet doohickey and showed him my ID, I punched the air, “YES!”
“He didn’t card me,” Carolyn said, “You’re married to an old woman!”
I, of course said NOTHING.

I do not want your spittle
Filed Under on the street | 2 Comments
Something from my Moleskine notebook,
Standing downtown waiting for my bus for work along with a load of other people, we are lined up under an awning against a building. Down the street comes a young couple, they are handing out fliers. Not many people are taking the hand-outs from the girl.
As she nears I get an idea why, as a person does take a flier the girl is licking the tips of her fingers so she can easily slide off the next flier from her stack to hand out.
I’m sorry lady, but I for one don’t want to handle a piece of paper with someone else’s spittle on it!

Decorating the walls
Filed Under Mrs. Mordant, wife | Leave a Comment
I am off this week, continuing to empty the storage of all the boxes and get stuffed packed away in our new house. Looking at the walls in the office over my desk, mmm, I have some Houdini posters, but maybe something different.
How about: Hattori Hanzo BRIDE & BILL Sword Set w/ Stand
or some movie and TV show related props: TV & movie Replicas
maybe
But I’m sure once Carolyn hears my ideas it will be: Wall Decoration probably the “Man’s Mind Sign!”
I want this though, after getting run down on a crosswalk by a driver who didn’t see me!
I guess I should pull out the Houdini posters!
By the way all this stuff is available from King of Sword at swords, a crap load of awesome stuff for every need, needs stun guns? They got ‘em, check them out.
If you blog about them you get free stuff too: blog contest.

The Mystery Zone
Filed Under way back when | Leave a Comment
I hooked up my Zip drive and trawled through 30 100MB Zip disks, I used to use Zip disks a long while ago and backed up everything to them. I burned 2,000 photos of the kids and grand kids and other family shots to a CD for Carolyn and deleted a load of crap.
I came across a project I did using some silly stories I wrote and some stuff I made in Paint Shop Pro. When I was working on the intranet pages for my department at work I had an idea of making a hidden link. Anyone who stumbled upon it would be taken to an area where there were silly stories, pictures and articles. All on a space, alien type theme. But I abandoned the idea, I spent many hours making the interfaces and writing stuff.
The story started with a script on a spacecraft then talked about an alien interface, clicking the continue button led you to the interface and clicking on buttons on it took your to various areas.
Interface pic (this image has 63 separate elements each on their own individual layers).
Start page after hidden link was located and clicked: Hidden link (be aware that you only get so far as it was not completed, but seems a waste not let it see the light of day).
I am not even certain I can remember how I made a lot of these elements. There is some white flashes as you click links so beware as they can get annoying.

Moleskine hack: secret compartments
Filed Under moleskine | 4 Comments
After doing the Moleskine hack to make my Moleskine into a wallet/GTD doodad, written about here: Moleskine wallet/GTD hack, I was inspired by several other posts on similar stuff I looked at. I pulled out an old beat up Moleskine that had ideas that had all been written up for various blogs.
Being a bit of a James Bond geek too and having just watched the Quantum of Solace trailer, I went to work. Pulled out my iPod, RSA secure ID card and one of my USB drives.
I used about six glue sticks gluing together a block of pages, then put the book between two bits of cardboard and put a pile of heavy books atop that. Before the glue was completely dry I drew around the items I wanted inside the notebook and used a few X-Acto blades cutting out the compartments (oh the sacrilege!).
Once dry the items fit snuggly into the notebook and if you open the book there are a few pages of notes like a regular book before you get to the goodies. I added a little notch so I could plug the ear buds into the iPod and listen to it inside the book. This and my Moleskine wallet will slide into my front jeans pockets if needed. No more having the items lolling around in my bag, they are all together and protected.
What a geek!

Sittting by the pool
Filed Under grand kids | Leave a Comment
Aurianna and Alec ‘Zander two of our grandkids are here, we haven’t seen them in a while so it is good having them here.
For the second time today I am sitting by the pool, this time I am not swimming with Aurianna and Alec who are spending the weekend with us. This morning grandma and I swam with them, now they wanted to come again with their friends. Hopefully Alec won’t doa cannon ball too near me and the laptop.
Hopefully they will sleep fine tonight after wearing themselves out. Earlier they decided they wanted to break out grandpa’s Maglites and sleep on the closet floor!
Aurianna told grandma that our new place doesn’t look like our place because we haven’t finished putting all our stuff back up, so grandma is unpacking all her knick-knacks and filling up the curio cabinets.
Kids are currently enthralled by the dragon flies flitting around and a hawk which is hanging around the pool and chasing the smaller birds looking for a quick lunch.
Aurianna just asked me why there are so many dead mosquitoes in the swimming pool.
“Because they can’t swim.”
