Decorating the walls
Filed Under Mrs. Mordant, wife | Leave a Comment
I am off this week, continuing to empty the storage of all the boxes and get stuffed packed away in our new house. Looking at the walls in the office over my desk, mmm, I have some Houdini posters, but maybe something different.
How about: Hattori Hanzo BRIDE & BILL Sword Set w/ Stand
or some movie and TV show related props: TV & movie Replicas
maybe
But I’m sure once Carolyn hears my ideas it will be: Wall Decoration probably the “Man’s Mind Sign!”
I want this though, after getting run down on a crosswalk by a driver who didn’t see me!
I guess I should pull out the Houdini posters!
By the way all this stuff is available from King of Sword at swords, a crap load of awesome stuff for every need, needs stun guns? They got ‘em, check them out.
If you blog about them you get free stuff too: blog contest.

Ending the procrastination and office remodel
Filed Under Mrs. Mordant, wife | 2 Comments
Well, for some time I have been saying I will get working on sorting out the office. We both have a desk with our computer and printer and peripherals on, of course Carolyn rolls her eyes and knows she’ll believe it when I start clearing up.
I am running out of space to put all my stuff so I guess I need to get off my arse and get working, I usually end up with a couple of black refuse bags of crap I should’ve discarded a while ago.
We need to get some bookcases for the piles of books that are just getting bigger and bigger, some shelves for knick-knacks and I suggested some stands, mounts and audio racks.
“Audio what?” the wife asks. I explain we could get some of those stands and racks to hold the TV, stereo and speakers to free up work surfaces by having these items attached to walls.
I see the eyes rolling, “What? A great space-saving idea don’t you think?”
“Really? Admit it, you just want to free up those surfaces so you can put more of your crap on them!”
Dang, she knows me so well.

A locket for my love
Filed Under Mrs. Mordant, love, wife | 14 Comments
“You never buy me flowers!” Carolyn said a while ago.
I decided rather than flowers I would get her something that lasts longer. She likes lockets and has a few, so I decided to get her an engraved locket. Presented it to her just now and she was overjoyed and my brownie point ranking just went through the roof.
Got the locket from a company called Pictures on Gold, they do all manner of items including silver and gold lockets, photo jewelry, medical jewelry, bracelets and charms to name a few.
I opted for a silver locket, I had it engraved on the front, the back and a color photo of myself laser engraved inside.
The website is easy to use and you are spoilt for choice, once ordered the locket arrived really fast and comes in a lovely presentation box with certificate of authenticity and a lifetime guarantee.
I am very pleased with the locket and the service the company offered. More importantly Carolyn loved the gift and agrees it was better than flowers, but she’d still like flowers sometime!
I highly recommend the company and I think we’ll both get the medical alert jewelry we should be wearing from there also.

More home improvements

I came into the living room and there is Carolyn casting her gaze around the room, tapping a finger on her lips, “Mmmmm.”
Uh oh! I thought, This is going to cost me, I could feel my wallet convulsing already. We recently started doing up each room in the house and the living room has so far had the most attention. New sectional couch with built in recliner, new entertainment center, bookcases, shelves for the media collection and most recently coffee tables, three there of.
I was looking around trying to figure out what she was thinking of getting next, maybe if I offered some suggestions.
“Looking for new coasters dear? How about some new lace doilies for the tables?”
“No, you know what this room needs?”
I’m about to find out.
“A new table lamp for that coffee table and a new table tamp for the one over there.”
“Table lamps! We have table lamps on two of the coffee tables already.”
“Yes, but we’ve been given those and they are old and ratty and they both don’t even work, we use the uplighters more in this room, I felt we should upgrade the table lamps.”
“They only don’t work because someone hasn’t gotten off their arse yet and put new bulbs in them.”
Carolyn shot me a look.
“Er, that someone being me of course.”
“No, they are falling apart I want new ones, let’s go,” she marshaled me upstairs to the office and got on her computer.
She pulled up Lightingshowplace.com and pointed out to a few lamps she liked and asked my opinion on them.
“Whichever ones you like the best dear,” I told her, best let her have her way.
“Really? Well, I like this one the best, or maybe that one.” Carolyn still hasn’t decided which she likes the best, but I am sure I will soon find out when the bill is due. But I know it means a lot to her to have a nice place that she has enjoyed decorating and putting together.
“Now let me see what I need for my side of the office,” I said and then felt her eyes burning into me, “Okay, maybe not.”

Me: Mmm this smells so much like chocolate goodness, I’m drooling.
Carolyn: Huh uh.
Me: I’m going to eat it, chocolate, yum.
Carolyn: Okay.
Me: I’ve been wanting chocolate now I’m going eat it all.
Carolyn: Fine, wait! Chocolate, we don’t have any chocolate, if I remember rightly you ate the chocolate before anyone else could get some.
Me: Smell this lovely Hershey’s chocolate. Down the hatch.
Carolyn: What are you talking about? Wait, give me that you’re not eating that.
Me: It’s mine, I want the chocolate.
Carolyn: Give it here, that’s mine and you are not bloody eating it, you ejjit.
Me: But it is Hershey’s and smells divine.
Carolyn: Divine! What are you on numb skull? Give that to me or you’ll feel my wrath.
Me: Here fine, I only wanted to eat the Hershey’s.
Carolyn: You cannot eat my Hershey’s chocolate lip balm, you put it on your lips not in your mouth!
Me: Fine! I’m leaving and don’t try and stop me.
Carolyn: Fine! Go see if I care.
Me: Okay, I’m gone.
Carolyn: Wait, where are you going?
Me: I told you I crave chocolate, I’m going to the store to get some. Want any?
Carolyn: Yeah, get me a Three Musketeers will ya.
Me: Okay, er, can I have some money?
Edit: Wife just got home from work and is sitting in office I picked up lip balm again and she told me to get her bag. She got me some Hershey’s Halloween chocolate, dang she knows me so well.

Computer coughs back to life turtles and I am flushed red
Filed Under Mrs. Mordant, computer, on the street, well I never!, wife | 6 Comments
Well I am on vacation until 8th of October, needed some time to decompress and stress relieve from work. Carolyn had doctor’s appointments today so we spent day together.
We ordered me a new computer scheduled to arrive Tuesday, 19″ inch monitor, I was excited. Then reading a free computer magazine a letter from a reader had a problem similar to the one I had that had fritzed my computer. I tried what the magazine expert suggested and the Sony computer coughed back to life.
Typical!
So we may give the Sony to our daughter and I get the newer one, depends if I can give it up or not.
———————–
On another note I need to find some suitable headache treatment, been getting them a lot and need to get them sorted out. Had new glasses recently so it isn’t my eyes. I stopped drinking coffee and reduced soda a great deal, so maybe it is a caffeine withdrawal thing.
———————
We were out at the thrift store and I got a crap load of action figure and other silly toys to cram my new desk with even more stuff. I was trying on hats from the Halloween displays. Jester hat, appropriate, but Carolyn didn’t think it suited me. I tried the Indiana Jones hat, no on that too. The red pimp hat got a thumbs down too.
Then I tried the top hat and Carolyn said it suited me, “It makes you look even more English.”
More English! I am a pure bred perfect English gentleman how can I be more English?
————————-
While out, the weather started to get colder and wetter, Carolyn pulled up the hood on her hooded sweatshirt. She kept tightening the hood strings, the hole was getting smaller and smaller and she was looking more like Kenny from South Park each time she tightened the hood.
“You starting to look like a turtle,” I told her.
Without missing a beat she turned to me and said, “But dear, you like a tight hole.”
“Turtle! Woman, turtle!”
“Why dear you are turning red.”
Dang, I can’t take her anywhere!

Chimps circulars chiropractors and computers
Filed Under Mrs. Mordant, charities, health, non-profits, uncategorized | 4 Comments
Well, I got back from another sessions on the rack at the chiropractors, aches a bit afterwards but then I feel great, everything is aligned and I don’t feel like a bent-over old man. Doctor is still trying to get me to go several times a week, but I am sticking to once a week. I was in the office, adjusted and out within five minutes, co-pay is $15.00 I wonder what the insurance pays.
——
I added a little something in my sidebar between the “Recent Posts” and “Recent Comments” sections Some advertising space for charities and non-profits organizations to promote themselves in free of charge. So if you know of a charity or non-profit organization that needs some extra promotion space let me and them know. I just added one that I saw via a post on our electronic bulletin board at work.
It is for the Chimpanzee Sanctuary Northwest, they are a new place that has built a shelter and safe haven for chimpanzees. Their site says:
CSNW is a sanctuary for captive chimpanzees who have been exploited by the entertainment and biomedical industries, one of only nine such sanctuaries in the United States. The organization was founded in 2003 on a 26-acre farm in Central Washington, approximately 100 miles east of Seattle. In four years we have made several major accomplishments.
They have some chimps due to arrive there in Spring 2008 and I quote again:
We are excited to announce that the first residents at Chimpanzee Sanctuary Northwest (CSNW) will be seven chimpanzees from the Buckshire Corporation, a laboratory in Pennsylvania. Annie, Burreto, Foxy, Jamie, Jody, Missy and Negra will move to Cle Elum in spring 2008, where they will share an 18,000 cubic-foot indoor facility. The chimpanzees, six females and one male, range in age from 24 to 34 and will live the rest of their lives–up to 60 years–at the sanctuary.
This sounds like an awesome place and a chance for these chimpanzees to live out the rest of their lives in peace and safety. I suggest checking them out and they are looking for volunteers, supplies and donations.
Before I heard about them I had come up with a rating system on my Blogger blog for when I do reviews and am using chimps instead of stars and have an imaginary chimp helping me out. Now I need to check if I will fall foul of CSNW for exploiting a chimp, albeit imaginary!
But seriously, I think they are doing a wonderful thing and I wish them every success and hope the new arrivals thoroughly enjoy their new homes.

I came home and Carolyn was sifting through the circulars and other junk mail, she keeps the coupons and ads from the groceries, we seem to be getting a lot of car insurance crap. Note to same: We have no vehicle. All manner of other insurances like term life insurance are in abundance. These aren’t too bad right now as we are looking for some new life insurance coverage anyway. She starts swearing, and I go over to see what at. She is bemoaning all the stuff we are getting about seniors and retirement, I am turning 50 next year I’m not quite a senior yet!
What can I say I like older women LOL.
——-
As my Sony computer is still a heavy paperweight we are looking for a new computer for me, trying to decided whether to get a laptop or another desktop. I’m erring on the side of the desktop then I can link the two 17″ flat screen monitors together and be really geek like.
