Indiana Jones and the feathers

Carolyn and I took a break from unpacking from the move and decided to treat .ourselves out. We went out to P.F.Chang’s for dinner then went and saw the latest Indiana Jones movie.
We enjoyed the movie and there looks to be an opportunity for some follow-on movies with Shia LeBeouf as the next Inidie as it were. The Star Wars animated movie Clone Wars trailer look interesting
While out we checked out the Japanese dollar store and got a few little items such as drawer organizers and hooks for the walls.
We also came across a store that sold among other things ostrich feathers, I stood there perplexed until Carolyn mentioned they could be used for center pieces especially for weddings. I guess there are a lot of ostriches running around with bare arses.

Happy 4th of July

Happy 4th of July, may you not get overstuffed with burgers and hot dogs, get trampled by the crowds at parades and not blow fingers off with fireworks.
We’re taking a break from unpacking and plan on a movie or something.

Moved

Well, this morning, moving day we awoke to rain and thunderstorms. But the window of the move turned hot and sunny, a U-Haul and crew got everything moved in a couple of hours.
Some blood was shed, a minor finger cut and a glass panel fell out of a curio cabinet but luckily didn’t break.
Smooth all around and we ended with a trip to Dairy Queen.
Now I just have six on-site storage lockers to empty of boxes. We got the office all sorted, we placed the two L-shaped desks in a large “U” shape and it looks pretty spiffy, pictures to follow.
Rest of the place looks good, just the little personal knick-knacks to add and pictures to put up on walls. All the media racks and bookcases are empty until we locate the correct boxes.
Our easiest move to-date and we have no plans on moving again.

Blogging from the new place

Well, we’re both sitting at our computers at the new house, Carolyn mentioned that of everything to bring over we had to have the desks and computers set up LOL.
U-Haul and crew tomorrow will bring everything else over.
Be glad when it is done and we cab start settling down. I am just so surprised at how much stuff we have accumulated over the years.

Blog anniversary coming up

After starting blogging again after a hiatus (previous blog was called Nonsensical Flounderings) on Blogger in February 2007 as Slightly Mordant, I switched to our own domain and dot com name in July 2007. The 17th to be exact was when this blog officially came into being, so the one year anniversary is approaching.
Surprised myself once again by not getting fed up and doing something else. Still enjoying blogging and reading blogs.
Once we get the house move sorted maybe I’ll have an anniversary contest.

Move is imminent

Well, the house move is imminent, we sign papers on Wednesday and move on Thursday. I am off all week packing boxes and stuffing them in storage lockers. Manager said we could use them as long as we lock them I have six so far full of boxes. Where does all this stuff come from?
we are moving around the corner, moving from a two-story townhouse to a ground level place. We will have a front lawn and everything inside is brand new.
I keep taking breaks as moving boxes in the sweltering weather is doing me in. Although the below ground storage area is lovely and cool.
While in the storage area I found out where the manager takes his lunch breaks. He came down and went into the large room that is usually locked down below the building where storage is located. It has a tv and pool table down there and he likes to go there so he isn’t bothered.
I am looking forward to getting into the new place and getting everything sorted out, we have been buying new furniture so everything should tie-in and look coordinated.

Memory work

I need better memory and I am not talking about computer memory either. Currently reading and practicing my memory work for my mentalism stuff I am interested in.
Working on mnemonics so I can do stuff like memorize a deck of playing cards and call off the numbers as fast as possible.
Harry Lorayne has a great sets of tools to help increase your memory so I plan on getting some of his stuff. He can do a show where he is introduced to 300 or so audience members and later in his show he can identify them all by their names. Pretty impressive and I find it daunting having to memorize 52 cards!

Gifts for the better half

I’ve been searching the Shirley of Hollywood site as one does er, um well. I suggested to Carolyn that I wanted to buy her something and after some thought she directed me to the above site to check out the lingerie. Dang I love that woman!
I was looking at the school girl costumes, but I don’t think the wife would appreciate those and I have to admit they don’t do as much for me as some of the other items.
Maybe a French maid. He he decisions decisions, this might take a while. Maybe I’ll get something for me too (from the men’s section!)
